Childhood Education International Announces the Appointment of New Board Members
Childhood Education International is pleased to announce the appointment of Andre Eaton, Celina Cereceres, Elizabeth O. Crawford, and Lucy Recio to the Board of Directors. This brings the number of board members to 15.
Andre Eaton is the New York State Regional Director for ParentChild+. He coordinates program expansion, program support, staff development, and additional training for all New York ParentChild+ sites. He assists program partner sites coordinate with New York State and City Departments to ensure that all Program children and families are connected with the appropriate next educational steps and services. Before coming to ParentChild+, he was the Southeastern Regional Executive Director for Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc., and previously was the Executive Director of Covenant House Georgia.
Celina Cereceres is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. She is Audit Partner at Whitley Penn, where she oversees the public sector practice for the firm in performing audits and other attestation engagements for school districts, universities and colleges, other large governments, and non-profit organizations. Since 2001, she has provided services to school districts and large local governmental entities receiving large amounts of federal and state assistance, as well as to non-profit entities.
Dr. Elizabeth O. Crawford is a professor of elementary education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, specializing in curriculum design, teacher education, and global education. Her research and teaching are focused on promising practices that nurture teachers’ and students’ global competence. She serves as a HundrED Ambassador, a member of the Advisory Council Member of the Institute for Humane Education, and an education consultant at the World Bank in the East Asia and Pacific region.
Lucy Recio has built campaigns, programs, and systems to inform education policy and shape public understanding and discourse around the need to transform the education system within the United States for more than 15 years. She has held leadership roles at the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), and the Office of the Bronx Borough President in New York City, as well as supported numerous state and local organizations advance their policy, advocacy, communications, and movement building strategies as a consultant.
