New Release: “Move & Improve: Preparing Children to Succeed in School Through Sport and Play”

Share article

Quality early childhood education opportunities can significantly impact children’s success in primary school and support lifelong opportunities.

In Uttar Pradesh, the state with the lowest school attendance rates in India, the Swiss Academy for Development (SA4D) and their local implementing partner, the Centre for Rural Education and Development Action (CREDA) are working together to fill a gap where there is little or no access to government-run early childhood education centers.

Using sport and play, their innovative program stimulates children’s natural desire to learn and build body awareness and coordination, while also helping children learn to manage their emotions and develop social skills such as conflict resolution and cooperation with peers.

Read about the program in the latest issue of Childhood Education: Innovations. Click the bottom right corner of the flipbook window to read in full screen.
