Letter to the G7 Calls for Embedding Education Into Strategic Priorities
The 2021 G7 Summit kicks off today, June 11, in Cornwall, England, and continues through June 13. The premier event, this year led by the UK in the role of Presidency, is a pivotal opportunity for leaders from influential countries to gather and come to agreement on critical issues in the global society. The agenda for the 2021 G7 Summit centers around the topic of “Build Back Better” and lists the policy priorities as:
• leading the global recovery from the coronavirus pandemic while strengthening our resilience against future pandemics
• promoting our future prosperity by championing free and fair trade
• tackling climate change and preserving the planet’s biodiversity
• championing our shared values.
As global leaders come together to discuss strategies for recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, CE International calls on the members and guests to embed education into their plans for addressing each of the policy priorities. Education is transformational and, as stated in the following letter, can be used to guide clearer approaches to building back better.
