New Resource Library of Professional Learning Materials Developed in Quality Holistic Learning Project
Dozens of open educational resources (OERs) are now available as part of the Center for Professional Learning’s newly launched OER resource library. The resource library contains professional development materials that were co-created with educators who work in displacement contexts as part of the Quality Holistic Learning (QHL) Project.
The OER resource library contains a wide range of materials, including courses, micro-credentials, presentation packets, and more, that can be used to support the professional learning of educators working in displacement contexts.
The open nature of these resources allows for unrestricted use and application, including contextualization to local contexts and priorities, and ultimately contributes to a sustainable learning cycle, which is one of the key tenets of the QHL project. As the QHL project continues in Kenya, Lebanon, and Niger, more resources will be added to the library.
The creation of the OERs was guided by the Sustainable Learning Framework, a key component of our Center for Professional Learning. Sustainable learning refers to educational practices that contribute to a continually evolving, healthy learning ecosystem in which knowledge is co-created and shared in a community. By co-creating and regularly releasing OERs designed to aid educators in displacement contexts, we aim to contribute to learning ecosystems that allow refugees, migrants, and other vulnerable learners and educators the opportunity to not only continue their education but also thrive in any setting.
The various functions of the OER resource library also draw from sustainable learning concepts of looped learning, democratic engagement, and more. These OERs are categorized by language (currently English, French, and Arabic), type, and topic. Furthermore, each individual OER page allows users to directly share with colleagues via email, social media, and more. Finally, at the bottom of each OER, a list of related resources is provided to encourage users to expand their knowledge on a given topic.
We offer special acknowledgment to the remarkable team of Quality Holistic Learning Fellows — educators based in Kenya, Lebanon, and Niger who worked ceaselessly over the past 18 months to co-create, refine, and ultimately publish this collection of Open Educational Resources focused on social and emotional learning (SEL), psychosocial support (PSS), and assets-based pedagogies for education professionals working in displacement contexts.
The CPL team and QHL Project Fellows will continue evolving the QHL project, leading to routine updates of the resource library. As users download and make use of these OERs, we request that you review the Creative Commons language that outlines appropriate attribution and use of the OERs.
