Childhood Education International is excited to announce the launch of our new Inclusion Insights series, which elevates voices from communities around the world working to achieve disability inclusion.

Inclusion Insights are stories created by members of the Early Childhood Development Task Force (ECDtf) and others in cooperation with CE International. They feature examples of programs, approaches, policies, and advocacy that promote a world where young children with developmental delays and disabilities can thrive.

Home-Based Interventions

The first Inclusion Insight is entitled Home-Based Programs to Reach Children with Disabilities and Their Families in the Philippines and was written by ECDtf members Ranilo S. Sorongon, Maria Yolanda Michelle B. Abundo, Rosalyn Marie G. Sorongon, and Lei-lani R. David.

The insight highlights the importance of home-based early interventions programs for young children with disabilities and points to lessons learned and recommendations for others seeking to implement home-based programs.

The insight shares the story of the Malapad family. Mae-Mae, who has autism, greatly benefited from home-based interventions as a child, and her father, Evert, was so moved by the home-based program that he decided to pursue studies in education to become a work- and life-skills teacher for youth and adults with disabilities. He now conducts seminars and training activities on home-based programs.

Future Inclusion Insights

The Inclusion Insights series aims to share information to support professionals and families worldwide in creating inclusive opportunities that enable young children with developmental delays and disabilities to reach their full potential.

We invite individuals or groups to submit insights to be considered for publication. We also invite individuals to learn more about the ECDtf, a free inclusive global network engaging in knowledge-sharing and dialogue toward locally led solutions for a world in which young children with developmental delays and disabilities can thrive.
