Advancing Girls’ Education and Gender Parity in China

ACEI sat down with Jin Chi, girls’ education expert, to discuss the challenges of achieving quality education and gender equality for girls in China.

Jin is a Program Specialist at UNESCO’s International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education, Associate Professor at Beijing Normal University in China, and Visiting Scholar at Georgetown University in United States. Her current work focuses on quality learning and sustainable development, early childhood and adolescent development, and rural women and girls’ education.

She has over 10 years of teaching and research experience at the university level and years of international cooperation and project management experience for educational organizations. She also worked as a co-director in a Chinese teacher training center for international schools in China and supported the development of private schools and kindergartens. In addition, Jin has completed various cross-cultural studies on developmental and educational psychology, international comparative education, culture, and development. She holds her Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong. She was a 2018 Brookings Echidna Scholar, and has served as an ACEI Country Liaison representing China since 2018.
