CE International Recognizes World Mental Health Day
On October 10, Childhood Education International will recognize World Mental Health Day and join the global community in raising awareness about the importance of supporting mental health and well-being.
At CE International, we believe that children’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being supports their overall development and enables them to reach their full potential. We also believe in the importance of fostering educator well-being and ensuring that teachers have the supports, structures, and resources they need.
Through our work at CE International, we focus on the development, learning, and education of children and educators, particularly those living in fragile circumstances, under-resourced communities, protracted crises, areas of conflict, natural disasters, or other challenging circumstances such as internally displaced, migration, and refugee contexts.
Because many children in these and other settings face trauma, we support education approaches that are trauma-informed and take a holistic approach to children’s and educators’ well-being. Our work includes a strong focus on this area across our programs and projects.
Professional Development Courses for Early Childhood Educators in Ukraine
We are offering four self-paced online Ukrainian-language professional development courses developed for and with early childhood educators, primary school teachers, and practical psychologists in Ukraine. Courses focus on trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, psychosocial support, and child well-being and protection.
Refugee Educator Foundations of Practice Courses
This winter/spring, the Center for Professional Learning is offering two online courses for K-12 refugee educators and other education leaders in the United States. These courses are designed for and by educators using an asset-based orientation to work with culturally and linguistically diverse students of refugee backgrounds. Areas of focus include social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices to foster well-being, and building culturally responsive and sustaining practices.
Professional Development Resources for Displacement Contexts
Our Open Educational Resource Library provides free online professional development resources to educators and other education leaders working in displacement contexts. Resources are available in English, French, Arabic, and Kiswahili and include materials and courses focused on social-emotional learning, psychosocial support, asset-based pedagogies, differentiated instruction, and holistic learning.
Social-Emotional Character Development in Serbia
Partnering with the Center for Interactive Pedagogy, we are designing and implementing a series of training in Serbia that focus on social-emotional learning and character development, issues the Serbia Ministry of Education has identified as an issue of national importance. More than 160 educators in Serbia have engaged in hybrid trainings and will be forming communities of practice within and across schools to embed more social-emotional character development activities and approaches into their curriculum.
