The Play to Learn Resource Hub
Advancing Quality in Early Childhood Development in Emergencies

Childhood Education International (CE International) partnered with the Play to Learn consortium — led by Sesame Workshop, BRAC, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and NYU Global TIES for Children — to develop the Play to Learn Resource Hub, a centralized platform supporting practitioners delivering early childhood development in emergencies (ECDiE) programs worldwide.
The Play to Learn initiative represents one of the largest global investments in ECDiE, bringing together research, media, and directservice innovations to improve learning outcomes for young children affected by conflict and crisis. CE International’s contribution — the design and curation of the Resource Hub — ensured that the project’s vast learning materials could be accessed, adapted, and scaled by educators, caregivers, and humanitarian actors globally.
Access the Resource Hub
A Centralized Hub for Quality and Practice
The Play to Learn Resource Hub offers free, open-access materials drawn from work in Bangladesh, Lebanon, Jordan, and other crisis-affected contexts, helping bridge the gap between research and field implementation. Its breadth and functionality reflect CE International’s commitment to quality assurance, knowledge translation, and systems strengthening within humanitarian settings.
The Hub includes:
- Program resources and guides detailing how to integrate play-based learning in emergency environments;
- Video and multimedia content from Sesame Workshop’s global programming to model nurturing care, resilience, and inclusion;
- Technical and research briefs produced by NYU Global TIES for Children to inform policy and practice; and
- Field-tested tools and case examples from BRAC and IRC illustrating effective implementation strategies in low-resource settings.
Elevating Practitioner Voices and Building Global Capacity
Available in multiple languages and designed for adaptability, the Hub places practitioners at the center—offering short, practical, and example-rich content that highlights on-the-ground expertise. Each resource is designed to be easily modified to local contexts, reinforcing CE International’s philosophy that quality improvement is iterative, participatory, and grounded in real-world practice.
By helping translate complex ECDiE research into usable guidance, CE International and its Play to Learn partners are building global capacity for quality early learning in crisis settings—ensuring that even in emergencies, young children have access to the nurturing care and educational opportunities they deserve.
