Ashley Nelson
Ashley Nelson is a seasoned communications leader with over 15 years of senior experience shaping strategy, editorial direction, and thought leadership across the nonprofit and media sectors. Most recently, she served as Communications Director at the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience (2016–2025), a global network of 370+ historic sites, museums, education institutions, schools, and memory initiatives in over 80 countries dedicated to using the past to address social injustice today. Ashley previously held a similar role at the Anne Frank Center USA, which focused largely on educational programming for children and broader audiences. In addition to her leadership work, Ashley writes on health and justice issues focused on gender, race, and youth, with published work appearing in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Elle, The Nation, Salon, and Oprah.com. Ashley has a dedicated interest in the education and wellbeing of young children, as she believes that children are our hope for a better future.
